getting paid for large projects is nice! i have been able to pay off a considerable amount of credit card debt that accumulated during college and have recently made fairly large purchases during the last week…purchases that were badly needed but never had the funds available.

i finally ordered my new mac book pro with the new intel core 2 duo chips on monday. i had to order it online because after venturing out to the apple store here in atlanta, they informed me that they did not have them in stock yet (the new generation of mac book pros were only release a couple weeks ago, so it made some sense). so of course i’m a little let down… no exciting moment of walking out of the store with a new mac. not going to be able to use my new ‘toy’ that evening. and, more importantly, not going to have a much, much faster computer for work.

so i placed my order with apple when lee and i returned from the apple store, which after apple care and tax set me back almost $3400! no worries… definitely well worth it. unfortunately, the 17″ models are taking 7-10 business days to ship out compared to the 15″ that takes a mere 1-3 days. that means i won’t be receiving it until after thanksgiving since the holiday are screwing up shipping times as well. ugh, the anticipation!

meanwhile, i have been needing to buy a new phone but have been overwhelmingly unimpressed with the selection that cingular has to offer (is it just me or do they remain behind the times when it comes to phone technology?). i really liked the new LG chocolate phones (very clean and sleek design…very important!), but wasn’t too excited about the odd keypad that pulled out from the bottom/underneath. nonetheless, i was almost going to go with it until one day lee informed me that LG was releasing a flip-phone version of the chocolate (though not called ‘chocolate’)… the LG8600. the only thing was that it is only released under verizon wireless. thus, i researched verizon’s services and compared to cingular’s and was actually impressed as verizon’s services and features were much better. so yesterday i ran down to the nearest verizon wireless store, signed up for new service with them, ported over my old number (yes, my number is still the same!), and best of all… picked up my LG8600. ah nice! it definitely satisfies my need for a new toy since i have to wait two weeks for my new laptop to come in.
