i have recently found myself living in a cheap imitation of the matrix, or perhaps living among a large population who desire to play space shuttle commander or something like that. it seems that with the latest craze in gadetry also comes a degrading mockery of its overly-exaggerated usage. now this certain demographic of our fine society doesn’t engage in developing involved or thought-out code names while wearing this device, nor do they work for the fbi on some underground secret mission. they are not even a space shuttle commander, or even a commander of anything for that matter.

so what’s this? those damn handsfree bluetooth devices for our beloved cell phones.

i can understand their function for those who are on the phone all the time for business, or even having one and using it only when on the phone is not bothersome to me. the thing that really annoys me (as well as most other people around you if you observe their reactions) is when people have those things glued to their ears at all times… even when not talking on the phone and probably not even expecting one. why? are you expecting a call from mother-ship at sometime? when you are talking to your friends, or at a restaurant eating, take the bloody thing off already, mr. shuttle commander!

until there is a time, when we live in a world that requires us to have our hands totally free and available at all times, there’s no need, really. i don’t have a code name. i am not some space shuttle commander. i don’t need to be tied to the phone at every minute. therefore, it’s very likely that you are/do not either.

seems like they have found me. i received a phone call from the phone number 866-383-0986 this afternoon, and of course i never answer phone calls from numbers i don’t recognize. if it’s important then they will leave a message and i will call them back (if i see fit ). anyway, for strange numbers i usually google them to see what i can come up with. so i did so with this one and the large search result was not promising, which means this is some type of scam or phishing scheme call. after reading other people’s posts on their blogs about the number, turns out it was some type of fax number scam (reason #8967 blogs are awesome!).

and, for the last two weeks i have been getting a call everyday from 212-798-9291, which i knew was in new york and at first excited me since i have been applying for jobs in nyc recently. but of course they never left a message… and called every single day at least once, sometimes more than that. what next? google it as it’s not a call regarding a job i’ve applied for! i find out its the number for register.com, who i used to have several domains registered with until i transfered them all the the much cheaper godaddy.com. i have been missing their damn phone calls to find out what they want… must be a sales call as i no longer have any domains registered with them anymore. finally today i was here to answer the call and they were notifying me about my weatherquests.com domain about to expire in a couple of days. i was like, um no i transfered that to another registrar a while back and it still has at least a year left before expiration. so he said to hold while he checks on his end and sure enough…he found that i was right. upon realizing this, he replied ’sure enough it’s registered through godaddy. ok then, sorry about that, and we will fix that in our system’ and then quickly hung up.

ggrrr! calling every day without verifying your accounts database is totally ridiculous!
