so i’ve been doing some thinking recently (well, not really anything new) and have reached an epiphany… one that tells me that i am trying to take on way too much. normally i would be totally okay with taking on so much as i tend to prefer my life to be that way, but i have realized that it’s preventing me from being able to focus on any one thing enough to actually be good at it. between work, working out, mountain biking, teaching myself japanese, getting more into photography, starting to mix electronic music, getting into video production and editing, and keeping up with the constant changes taking place in my profession (design, flash, web technologies)… it has become difficult to keep up. thus it’s time to make some changes.

i have decided that those things directly related to my profession, web technologies such as flash, ajax, etc, will remain my top priority. this includes studying and becoming insanely comfortable with the new actionscript 3.0 for flash and its OOP techniques. additionally, since electronic music is a strong passion of mine i have also decided to keep that at the forefront of my drive for a while until i begin releasing mixes and some productions of my own. i will be using primarily ableton live 6 once i purchase it and then will eventually pick up some external hardware (midi controller, pad controller, synthesizer, etc). since my domain superurbia.com has gone unused for a while, i have decided that will house all of my music experiments and mixes. in order to channel some of my creativity elsewhere, i will also be experimenting with the processing programming platform, which is basically digital art all done through programming. i will house these experiments on superurbia.com as well.

so, japanese will be put on the back-burner and getting more into photography will also need to wait, though i will definitely continue investigating different techniques.
