everything sucks

it’s been a while since i’ve taken the time to post something here ever since twitter has become my blogging method of choice. but with everything that’s been going on recently there’s just too much on my mind that i need to dump some of it out somewhere.

first off: the election. six months ago i had so much hope that this was going to be an election of a different nature. people were sick of the way things had been going and were ready for change. no longer were americans going to sit by and let the government fuck up their lives. people actually cared, and it felt like there was no way in hell republicans had a chance at winning. it seemed like the democrats had several really good candidates. there was so much promise, so much hope.

now, a month away from the election reality could not be father from that vision. this election is wrapping up to be a repeat of the same lame-ass tactics every other candidate has used before. obama has definitely shown he has the most potential to bring about change to america, but i’m even beginning to wonder about that considering the state of the economy now.

and what about the joke that is mc cain and palin? serioiusly, how the fuck can people honestly support this team or believe half the shit they make up? if americans were truly paying attention at all, there’s no way in hell this election would be as close as it is. obama would be blowing mc cain away. palin is a major embarrassment and i hope the rest of the world is laughing their asses off because of the ignorance that runs rampant in this country. if mc cain wins, palin is a step away from president. president palin?! that should scare the hell out of each and every one of us.

i have told several people that if mc cain wins, i will be actively seeking canadian citizenship and residency. no longer can i live in a country full of bigots, hypocrits, religious fanatics, superficiality, or self-righteous idiots. people here are too passive about their rights, too comfortable in their own bubbles, and don’t give a shit about things that don’t affect their lives directly (although if they understood things, they would see in the end they do). so pending the results a month from now, i may or may not become canadian.

and then the first two debates not being as powerful as they should have been, especially the VP debate last night which seemed too scripted, boring and too nice. biden should have ripped palin a new one for being completely ignorant of any of the real issues, not answering the questions, and overall having a ridiculously unprofessional demeanor. biden knew his facts and how to debate, but he definitely was not as powerful or strong as he should have been. obama wasn’t either in his debate with mc cain. give me a break, if you’re passionate about becoming president and fixing this mess then i want to see some anger and emotion involved. enough games.

in addition to the election that has been rather disappointing recently, we have the housing and financial crisis. and this $700 billion bailout? wtf is that? seeing as how it has now passed both the house and the senate, signed into office, all of us will have to pay for the irreponsible banks and americans who got us in this mess in the first place. if you’re not extremely angered by this, you’re obviously NOT paying attention. when was the last time banks or the government bailed any of us out? yeah, never. needless to say, we, american taxpayers, don’t get a damn thing in return for paying for this mess. typical. so i guess we should all assume the position now…

the ground, which at one point as so sound and stable, is being quickly pulled out from under us. our rights continue to be taken away. our government continues to screw us over. we have to pay for their major blunders. our position in the world has become a joke. everything continues to get more and more expensive, yet our incomes and minimum wage remain stagnant. and now because of this damn bailout plan, the promises of obama as president will falter under lack of funding as we will be paying for wall street’s and banks’ ignorant mistakes.

i recall a year ago thinking things could not get any worse than where bush and his clan has taken us, but i was definitely wrong. when will people finally wake up and take a stand? when will people fight for the rights that are being taken away from them? when will people stand up against their government that continues to screw them over? america is a democracy? ha, far from it.
