normally when i tell people about my health-nut lifestyle, especially when it come to eating, they typically look at me dumbfounded or astounded. really it’s quite simple… organic foods and cutting out all red meat (beef and pork). now, recent studies have found that eating overly processed foods (something i’ve talked about to people for a while) and red meat both drastically increase your risk of getting cancer. i hope you’re not totally surprised by this as it makes total sense, especially when it comes to consuming a lot of highly processed foods. just read the ingredients of products at a typical supermarket, and then compare it to a similar product that is made from organic ingredients. the processed products contain a vast number of man-made chemicals that most of us have never heard of nor can even pronounce. meanwhile, the organic products contain natural ingredients which we are familiar with…thus we know that which we are eating. i’ve even considered going vegetarian (except for beneficial fish/seafood) recently due to the taxing effects eating meat has on our bodies not to mention the horrible methods used in the meat processing industry. if i do eat eggs or poultry (especially when buying) i make sure it’s from free-range/free-roaming animals.
this cnn article explains five healthy food trends to follow, one of which is what i would consider myself–flexitarian.
