it seems that wherever i happen to find myself, the weather seems to do quite the opposite of what i would like to see actually happen. for instance, here in atlanta the most intense storms and heaviest rains typically either move to our south and north, or they fall apart just to our west only to leave us with lighter amounts. the same usually occurred when i was living in austin…the strongest of storms always going around the city. well, now that i am no longer living in austin, the weather does what i would have wanted it to do… bring wintry precipiation such as sleet and snow. much of central texas has been getting light to moderate sleet and snow all day with cold (bitter cold for texas standards) temperatures not even rising above freezing!
some areas just to the west of austin have received 2-3″ of snow so far and it’s still falling… not to mention the large accumulation of ice on surfaces. for us here in atlanta, the local forecasters are simply ‘wish-casting’ by putting in a chance of sleet in the forecast for late wednesday night and early thursday morning. i’m definitely not holding my breath, and if it does indeed happen then it will a few pellets if that
