a year and a half later, after our first initial development began on the project, our client has finally gone live as of thanksgiving day! woohoo! this being the largest and probably most complex interactive project i have worked on certainly makes it feel like an accomplishment. in case you aren’t aware, it’s the online-based custom t-shirt design application lee and i developed for a custom t-shirt printing company based out of michigan. in reality, the project has been on the boards since two years ago when we first began our initial correspondence related to initial cost and time quotes. so much of last week our time was consumed by working out the last final critical bugs and last-minute feature requests…working well into the early morning hours to get things wrapped up for the launch date. you can view the main site here, or the flash RIA which was primarily my responsibility throughout development. they are still wanting minor and major additions to the project, so i’m sure i will still be working on this through next year in conjunction with several other projects in the works.
of course we had to celebrate going live this weekend… and maybe we went a little overboard! lee, todd and i got a hotel room in midtown saturday night so we wouldn’t have to worry about driving home (which is 30-40 min from midtown) if we drank too much. after dumping our stuff off saturday evening, we went to a bar to grab a few drinks (very strong drinks since we knew one of the bartenders there
). we got there around 830-900p, which was definitely a little early to get started but oh well. we stayed there until about 11p and then, feeling pretty happy by now, headed over to a dance club. as soon as we get in, we take our ‘celebration shots’ of tequila to commemorate the project going live FINALLY! then we hit the dance floor. eventually lee and i end up taking at least two more shots during the next two hours…and i was starting to feel it coming on strong. oh and we paid the price the next morning all tired and feeling blah (though some of us worse than others…i was the lucky one
).
it was definitely a good time… always good to have wild nights of partying like that occasionally! and i finally get my new mac book pro which is set to arrive on wednesday morning, which was made possible from this same project. i just checked its location from fedex and after shipping out from shanghai, china… making a pit stop in the phillipines… it has just departed anchorage, ak. hell, this thing has traveled the world more than i have!
