disgusted and flustered

consuming a quarter of the world’s oil and a fifth of all the coal consumed annually, we, the united states, are a disgusting virus carelessly using up the worlds primary source of energy without much concern for the future. i’m sure most american’s just think, ‘oh well, i’m not changing my habits as we will find a solution before it gets to be a major concern.’ wake up people! we are placing a huge demand on our oil reserves globally due to rapidly developing economies and countries, so of course the cost is going to skyrocket with no let-up in sight.meanwhile, we refuse to conserve energy or to work harder at promoting alternative fuels. our cities, especially across the south and the west, are suffocating under sprawling suburbs, planned around the car. the car is some higher being and status symbol that we all seem to worship in this country… glorified to some unrealistic and fantastical level. nonetheless, high gas prices don’t seem to phase us. instead of we, the drivers and the consumers taking responsbility and action on our own behalves, we bitch and complain to the government to do something… to force prices down. um hello?! no one is forcing you to live 30 minutes away from your job… forcing you to spend so much money on gas.

come on… get realistic people. will we ever learn?
