the last year has involved much more travel than usual, which i am definitely not complaining about! the studio i am involved in has two trips planned in order to complete necessary research… one weekend to phoenix this weekend (yea!) and a three-day trip over a weekend next month to seattle. i am definitely excited as it’s places i have not yet been to, not to mention the fact that i was planning on going to seattle (or the northwest) over spring break anyway so i can debate over nyc or the northwest. we will be researching, observing and analyzing several good recent libraries since that is our semester project. for our main project, we will be working with and consulting the people of blanco public library, who contacted the ut school of architecture to get students involved in new library facility proposals for their branch. overall it should definitely be a great studio, especially the direct contact with a “client”, which is something you usually never get in studio environments.
other than studio travel, i will be flying to atlanta over the next month or so for business, which i hope the outcome is promising and sustainable for future work. right now i have so much going on that it’s very difficult to focus on any single thing. school has seemed to have taken the back-burner behind my work and company potential, which i am working to build up to actually be sustainable after graduation. right now i am still leaning more towards working for myself and see what comes of it after graduation rather than going straight to working for an architectural firm. then there’s spring break, which i am wanting to take a road trip to oregon with friends to get some snowboarding in, which should definitely be an awesome time! after graduation i also have my month-long backpacking trip in europe… better take advantage of the time that i have now and live it up!
along with everything else, i need to continue research for my architectural thesis as i am planning on having most of it written by spring break. i still have a ton of reading and researching to complete, but in the end i think it will be well worth it as it’s an area of architecture and design that i think should be the leading focus in the near future. plus, it will be an area of research and experimentation i will continue to be emmersed in even after school.
so yeah… i’m traveling somewhere, but in the end it could be anywhere.

That is funny. They have good breakfast tacos on that side of town though. Hmm. Yum…breakfast tacos! Oh and happy late birthday — even though I did tell you happy bday before.
lol!
Nick, you have the worst of luck. At least you made it back to your apt. in one piece and with all your possessions! Sometimes, even though unplanned, things that happen to us are better than our original intention. It builds character!
Oh, and on Myra’s comment, she calls the ‘breakfast tacos’ too! See, I’m NOT crazy! You and Bruce thought I was nuts… they’re NOT ‘breakfast burritos’… us girls know what we’re talking about!
hrm… i’ll still stick with bkfst burritos as ‘taco’ suggests a hard shell
It is SO breakfast “TACOS” because they do not come all wrapped up and tucked like burritos do!
