before the landfall of hurricane katrina, i knew it was going to be bad… a category 4 or 5 storm slamming into a completely vulnerable coastline was not going to lead to a promising outcome. after the storm hit, things did not seem as bad as originally thought by many, including myself. but as the day after the storm progressed as well as each day since then, things have been getting worse.
i cannot imagine or visualize the total destruction that has occurred from new orleans to mobile. well over 3/4 of the city of new orleans under up to 20ft of water at least… the majority of structures damaged… no water/elec/food/shelter… total chaos in the streets…
just think about it… you evacuate for the storm believing that you will simply return to your normal life in a day or so. then you find out that you have absolutely nothing left and have to start all over again. events like this really make you think twice about all our meaningless commodities and to realize our lives are not that bad. so please, stop bitching about the price of gas increasing to $4.00/gallon or the new material object you really want but can’t afford… take public transit… and greatly appreciate that which you have in front of you. your life is not unfair. those who have lost everything within a few hours… their lives are unfair.

would you be interested in say a bit of a photo challenge perhaps a war of sorts. this can be a lot of fun and a good way to force yourself to take pics. what happens is say at the beginning of the week/ day a topic(s) are thrown out for discussion… say density, then people take their pics, post them, then vote on who captured the topic the best. it can be a lot of fun if people participate. what do you think.

sweet. lets think of some topics… try to keep them to one word that can be defined in many different ways, then we can decide what to do on mon. then tues through thurs photograph and post on fri. we should decide a limit of submissions per category so it doesn’t get too crazy. the more the merrier also so i am not sure who you talk to but if others want to join invite them. lets see what happens. i need to charge my battery… died a week ago.
